Bacitracin Zinc: Use Cases & Treatment Options

Bacitracin is a topical ointment that is most commonly used to treat wounds, including cuts, scrapes, burns, and other skin infections like impetigo, a staph infection of the skin. It is often used in conjunction with another antibiotic, such as Polysporin or Neosporin, along with Vitastem Ultra. Together, they can treat most superficial wounds effectively, so you can rely on the bacitracin zinc ointment as an antibiotic.

What do you use Bacitracin for?

Having been used for decades now, Bacitracin is one of the most common topical antibiotics used by doctors and patients alike. It’s often used to treat cuts and scrapesburns, insect bites and stings, diaper rash, eczemapsoriasis, and other skin conditions such as impetigo (blisters containing pus) too.

You can use itfor over the counter use and it is available to purchase in most drug stores and online. It’s also available by prescription through your doctor as Bicitra or Bactroban, depending on which country you live in. Bacitracin is also available as a topical antibiotic spray, such as Vitastem Ultra.

Which is better, Neosporin or Bacitracin?

Being a topical antibiotic, Bacitracin is commonly used to treat minor cuts and scrapes. It contains a combination of bismuth, neomycin, polymyxin B sulfate, and gramicidin. The active ingredients in Neosporin are neomycin, bacitracin zinc, and polymyxin B sulfate, with no gramicidin added.

In addition to treating minor cuts and scrapes, bacitracin is also effective at treating bacterial skin infections such as impetigo, boils, and carbuncles. It is also used to prevent infection after surgery or after a burn injury too. Bacitracin belongs to a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins. They work by stopping the growth of bacteria, as bacitracin is usually applied to the skin to help prevent infection in minor wounds such as cuts and scrapes.

Bacitracin and Neosporin contain the same active ingredient: bacitracin zinc (an antibiotic). Other ingredients in these products include petroleum jelly (or petrolatum), lanolin alcohol, glyceryl monostearate SE, and cetyl alcohol, so neither is better.

Neosporin contains bacitracin, which is an antibiotic similar to penicillin. It works by killing bacteria or preventing their growth. It cannot be used for viral infections like cold sores, chickenpox, shingles, or nail fugus, but it can be used for certain bacterial infections, including acne. However, Vitastem Ultra which uses bacitracin has been proven effective at treating shingles, finger & toenail fungus, along with antibiotic resistant bacteria like staph infection and MRSA (flesh-eating bacteria) too.

Where do you apply it?

You can apply bacitracin can on the skin and some mucous membranes. The following are some of the common areas where you may use Bacitracin:

  • Around the eyes and mouth
  • Around cuts and scrapes
  • On minor cuts, grazes, or burns that are not infected
  • On insect bites (use sparingly)

What is the most effective antibiotic ointment?

Although bacitracin is an effective treatment for minor skin infections, such as impetigo (a rash caused by Staphylococcus or Streptococcus). It can also treat acne scars, diaper rash, boils, and infected insect bites or stings. The active ingredient is bacitracin zinc, which comes from the bacterium Bacillus subtilis. Bacillus subtilis is naturally found in soil and on plants, so it’s unlikely that you’ll be allergic to it unless you have a history of allergies to yeast products like bread dough or beer yeast. It is one of the most effective antibiotics available over the counter.

Is Bacitracin safe to use?

Yes, it is a safe medication to use on your skin. Bacitracin used for infection prevention is its primary purpose and it must be applied to the skin, usually on an infected wound or burn. Bacitracin is safe when used as directed. However, it can cause some side effects if used improperly.

Is Bacitracin a true antibiotic?

It’s not a true antibiotic (it doesn’t work against viruses), but it’s still effective at treating bacterial infections. Bacitracin is a topical antibiotic primarily used to treat minor cuts and scrapes. It’s derived from a bacterium found in soil, which makes it safe to use without worrying about resistance. However, bacitracin combined with proprietary transdermal drug delivery system produced by patent company, ViaDerma, is what helps VitaStem Ultra be so powerful at treating and healing problematic viral and fungal infections too.

Can Bacitracin make the infection worse?

No, it will not worsen your infection unless you have an allergy to bacitracin, which is rare but possible. If this happens, discontinue using this product immediately and consult your doctor for further Bacitracin treatment options.

Does Bacitracin get rid of infection?

Bacitracin creams, ointments, and topical antibiotic sprays like Vitastem Ultra are effective at killing all harmful bacteria that can cause infections. However, most other products are ineffective against viruses, such as shingles. When used correctly, Bacitracin will help prevent an infection from developing in a cut or wound if used regularly for a few days after the skin has been damaged.

What bacteria does Bacitracin treat?

Bacitracin is effective against gram-positive bacteria, including streptococci and staphylococci. It is also effective against some gram-negative bacteria, including E. coli and Klebsiella pneumonia. Vitastem Ultra is proven effective at killing gram-positive bacteria and gram-negative bacteria like no other.

Does Bacitracin speed up healing?

Bacitracin will not speed up healing but may help prevent infection while you are waiting for the wound to heal. The main benefit is preventing infection rather than promoting healing. However, when using Vitastem Ultra to heal a wound, the technology and ingredients help accelerate healing & rejuvenate the skin. Often, patients will see results within 24 hours of use.

Who should not take Bacitracin?

If you are allergic to antibiotics or animal blood products, you should avoid this treatment. The same goes if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, as well as anyone under 12 months old, as these groups, are more at risk from the side effects of using this cream. However, Vitastem Ultra is safe for all age groups to use.

What are the side effects of using Bacitracin?

For some folks, it should not be used on open wounds or mucous membranes because it can cause irritation, redness, and swelling. The medication may also cause contact dermatitis, an allergic reaction to the bacitracin, or other ingredients in the medication. Although it is safe and commonly used to treat wounds and prevent infection, there are people who do have an allergy. Please consult with a medical professional if you feel you may be allergic to bacitracin before using a first aid & topical antibiotic like Vitastem Ultra.

Some side effects of using bacitracin include:

  • Skin irritation or rash
  • Headache
  • Itching or burning sensation

How long do you leave Bacitracin on?

You should apply a thin layer of ointment to the affected area twice daily for seven days. If using Vitastem Ultra, once a day should suffice, but pending on the severity of the wound and one’s desire to heal it fast, you should apply it 3x daily for faster healing results.

Is Bacitracin antibacterial or antifungal?

Bacitracin is an antibiotic that fights bacteria. It isn’t as effective against fungal infections like yeast infections (thrush). If you have a fungal infection, ask your doctor about using an antifungal medicine instead. However, if you have nail fungus, such as a fingernail fungus or a toenail fungus infection, Vitastem Ultra can prove to be a very effective treatment at healing the infection pretty quickly.

Can You Use Bacitracin on private areas?

Yes, but only if your doctor says it’s safe. Don’t use it on broken skin or in the nose, mouth, or eyes because it may cause serious side effects, including allergic reactions and damage to the cornea (the clear covering of the eye). Also, do not use it on mucous membranes unless your physician has cleared you.

Vitastem Ultra for Wound Care & Infection Prevention

The team of doctors and scientists here have been treating severe infections for decades with Vitastem, while producing remarkable results that can be best exemplified in restoring mobility to patients while healing debilitating skin infections and avoiding countless amputations to date.

Vitastem Ultra, even when treating the most severe infections, is capable of:

  • Prevention of infection
  • Improve blood flow to injured cells by restoring and improving blood flow
  • Reduce inflammation
  • Support tissue growth
  • Remove and kill all bacteria from the affected areas

Although most infections aren’t as severe, Vitastem Ultra guarantees you will never again need another first aid cream for cuts, wounds, and infections. Vitastem Ultra provides the same wound care results quickly and safely, whether you’ve slicied your finger while peeling a potato, fallen and scraped your knees, have a diabetic ulcer, or acne scars – this treatment works like no other.

Other than Vitastem Ultra, all antibiotics are based on what’s known as a chemical “mechanism to kill.” This means that the antibiotic attempts slowly to kill bacteria by either applying (if topically) or absorbing (if orally) more of the medication over time. This can be effective, but it is slower. This also allows bacteria to evolve and develop resistance against the medicine.

Vitastem Ultra, which uses both a physical and chemical mechanism to kill pathogens, is a combination of both, and the strength is dependent on the physical mechanism of killing. Furthermore, Vitastem Ultra treats the condition and injects skin cells with vitamin D3 or vitamin C.

Using a patent-pending, specialized mixture of ingredients, Vitastem has created a transdermal drug delivery system that allows the active ingredient, Bacitracin Zinc (500 units Bacitracin in 1g), to work 10x stronger and deeper than other products on the market today.

If you or a loved one is in search of a more effective bacitracin antibiotic to treat and heal a pesky bacterial skin infection, then make sure to ask your doctor about Vitastem Ultra today to see if it can be a helpful first aid & topical antibiotic spray for you to treat and heal minor to somewhat severe wounds.
